Please Note: This service provides a safe, licensed driver but does not include a tour guide, narration, or itinerary planning. The driver is there solely to execute the pre-arranged transportation route you provide.

When purchasing, please select the number of Tickets equal to the total number of hours you wish to charter the vehicle.

Please Note: The fee for your charter is based on the assumption of a Kona region pickup. Locations outside of the Kona region (including Hilo, Volcanoes, Ka'u, Honoka'a, etc.) will be subject to a Remote Zone Surcharge to cover positioning costs. What To Pack For Your Big Island Transportation

What Travelers Should Bring:

  • Payment for Purchases: Cash and credit cards for any personal purchases, meals, or on-the-spot vendor services (e.g., small parking lots) made during your charter time.
  • Driver Gratuity: Cash or a preferred method to provide gratuity for your professional driver (20-25% recommended for excellent service).
  • Proof of Bookings: Any pre-paid tickets, confirmations, or passes required for activities, events, or restaurant reservations along your route.
  • Comfort Items: Sunglasses, sunscreen, and a light jacket or cover-up, as Big Island temperatures can fluctuate between locations.
  • Drinks/Snacks: Any food or non-alcoholic beverages you wish to consume during the charter (please note, open containers of alcohol are prohibited).
  • Luggage Notification: Please inform us of anything larger than a standard carry-on purse or backpack so we can plan for luggage space within the van.

Important Trip Information to Know Before You Go

Important Service Requirements & Capacity:

  • Vehicle Capacity: We utilize either 12-passenger or 15-passenger commercial vans. The maximum capacity for guests is 14 people. (We allow 11 or 14 guests maximum, depending on the vehicle assigned).
  • Mandatory Itinerary Review: This is an As-Directed service. Our office team will call you after the booking is made to confirm all itinerary details and verify that the hours you have paid for are sufficient for the desired locations. If additional time is required, we will arrange for billing prior to the service date.
  • Child Safety Seats: Child seats are available for an additional charge: $15 per Car Seat and $10 per Booster Seat. You must inform us of the number of seats needed at the time of booking.
  • Accessibility: Our standard vehicles are not wheelchair accessible (no lift).

Everything You Need to Know About Your Private Big Island Charter

  • What is the MAXIMUM group size?

    Our passenger vans are 12-15 passenger models. We can accomodate a maximum of 14 guests per private charter. 

  • Is this a guided tour?

    NO. This is a private transportation charter providing a professional, commercially licensed driver only. The driver is responsible for safe navigation and adherence to your submitted itinerary but does not provide historical or geographical narration. 

  • How is the charter scheduled, and what is the minimum booking time?

    Charters are sceduled by the hour (starting at $125/hr), and the minimum booking time is 1 hour. You select your specific tart time, and your hourly rate adjusts automatically (Standard $125/hr vs. Late Night $175/hr).

  • What is included in the hourly rate?

    The hourly rate includes the exclusive use of the van, a professional personal driver, all fuel costs, and taxes. It does not include driver gratuity, attraction admission fees, parking fees incurred during stops, or food and beverages.

  • Is the itinerary flexible?

    YES, the itinerary is flexible! You direct the driver. We require an itinerary submission at least 24 hours in advance to confirm the hours you've booked are sufficient. Once the charter starts, you have full control over the stops within your booked time.

  • How do I confirm my pick-up address and time?

    You enter your full pick-up and drop-off address during checkout. Our office team will call you within 24 hours of your reservation to confirm your exact start time, pick-up location accessabilty and review your submitted itinerary.

  • Will I be charged extra for my pickup location?

    Pickups originating outside the primary Kona region (e.g., Hilo, Volcanoes, Puna, Ka'u, Honoka'a, etc.) will incur a Remote Zone Surcharge to cover our vehicle positioning costs. This fee will be invoiced seperately after itinerary confirmation.

  • Is the van wheelchair accessible?

    Our standard Mercedes Sprinter vans are not wheelchair accessible (no lift).

  • Can I bring my own car seat?

    Yes, you are welcome to bring and install your own approved child safety seats. We also offer certified Child Car Seats and Booster Seats for a small additional fee (purchased as an add-on during checkout).

  • What happens if my trip goes over the booked time?

    If your charter runs longer than the hours you booked, the additional time will be billed at the standard hourly rate ($125 or $175) and charged to the card on file at the end of the service.

  • What if I'm prone to motion sickness?

    Some roads on the Big Island can be winding. If you are prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking preventative measures prior to the tour for your comfort.We do have sick bags available if needed. 

  • What is your luggage limit?

    Our vans are designed to accommodate luggage for the maximum group size of 14 people. We kindly request that you inform us if your party has oversized equipment or significantly more luggage than one standard suitcase per person, so we can plan accordingly.

  • Can we consume food or alcoholic beverages in the van?

    You are welcome to consume food and non-alcoholic beverages. However, open containers of alcohol are strictly prohibited in the vehicle by law.

  • What is the cancellation policy?

    We enforce a 24-hour cancellation policy. Bookings canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled start time are non-refundable.

  • Can I charge my devices in the van?

    Our vehicles are equipped with charging ports. We recommend bringing your own charging cable and/or a portable charger for your devices.

  • How will I contact the driver on the day of service?

    Your professional driver will contact you  prior to your confirmed pickup time if needed.

This is a great tour. We got to see and learn so much that there is no way we could have if we had tried to cover it ourselves. Sam, our guide, was exceptional, both in terms of his knowledge and his ability to connect with his guests at a personal level.

The drive to the first stop is over an hour, but Sam talked us through the changing climate and associated flora, fauna, and landscape as we climbed to 10,000 feet above sea level. Then, the stops and attractions came thick and fast, each more fascinating than the other.

The tour is not physically strenuous, and we never felt rushed. The weather was beautiful, but it could get a little cool up at that altitude, so dress appropriately. They provide water and sodas and a picnic lunch at a beautiful spot.

We are here with friends from Vegas. First time out to the Big Island. We didn't even have to rent a car to see the whole Island!!
So great to see something not all commercial like VEGAS!! We had no idea Hawaii was such a geologically diverse place- we expected great beaches but there were gorgeous mountains, waterfalls, tropical rain forests, lava flows, even a BLACK SAND BEACH!! And there were even giant turtles on the black sand beach..
I recommend Wayfind Hawaii with their awesome Aloha Spirit! It's REAL too!
